		<title>Mauldin Police Arrest Attempted Murder Suspect</title>
		<description><![CDATA[MAULDIN, S.C. &#8212; Updated: January 17, 2012 Mauldin Police and the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force have arrested the man accused of committing an attempted murder earlier this month. Dameon Marello Davis was arrested Tuesday while leaving an apartment in Greenville. Davis is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing. He faces charges of attempted murder, attempted armed robbery, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent felony and discharging a firearm into a dwelling. Officials say he has a violent criminal past. Posted January 13, 2012 Maudlin Police are trying to find an attempted murder suspect who they say has a violent criminal history. The Mauldin Police Department is attempting to locate Dameon Marello Davis, also known as Dameo Marello Harris, in connection with a shooting Thursday at Windmill Apartments. Davis is charged with attempted murder and attempted armed robbery among several charged after the shooting at 12:53 p.m. Anyone with information about Davis is asked to call Mauldin police at (864) 289-8900.]]></description>

		<title>Mauldin Police Department  On-Site Assessment</title>
		<description><![CDATA[The Mauldin Police Department is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards in law enforcement. Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with professional standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services. As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. This session will be conducted in the Municipal Court Room, in Mauldin City Hall, located at 5 East Butler Road, Mauldin, South Carolina. Agency employees and the public are also invited to offer comments by calling (864) 404-3281 on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Telephone comments, as well as appearances at the public information session are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Mauldin Police Department and viewable to the public between the hours of 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Any person wishing to view these standards should contact Captain Roger Tripp at (864) 289-8908 for an appointment. 		<title>Mauldin Police Department Awarded Grant</title>
		<description><![CDATA[Funds to be used for alcohol countermeasures By Shawn Drury Email The South Carolina Department of Public Safety has awarded the Mauldin Police Department a grant in the amount of $129,449. The money will allow the department to continue alcohol countermeasures that led to a 42.8 percent reduction in injuries as a result of DUI collisions during 2010. The money will allow for a third year of monthly public safety checkpoints and educational presentations to community groups. Training will also be provided to city police officers. Chief Bryan Turner said, “The grant will help us to balance the needs of keeping our roadways safe for everyone and it will allow the City of Mauldin to maintain the quality of life that our citizens have grown accustomed to over the years.” Mayor Don Godbey said, “We are pleased to continue our collaboration with the South Carolina Department of Public Safety in the mission to reduce the incidents and severity of traffic crashes in our state.” The funds are for the 2011-2012 fiscal year.]]></description>

		<title>Mauldin Police Officer Awarded Officer of the Year by AET</title>
		<description><![CDATA[Mauldin Police Officer George Miller was recognized at the monthly city council meeting Monday Night for being named Officer of the Year by Greenville County. Miller was presented with a plaque from the 13th Circuit Alcohol Enforcement Teams (AET) that commended him for “outstanding dedication to the enforcement of underage drinking laws and for keeping this community safe and alcohol free.” The plaque was presented by The Phoenix Center and The Greenville County Enforce Underage Drinking Laws Coalition.]]></description>

		<title>25 Boys Graduate From Mauldin Police&#8217;s Cadet Program</title>
		<description><![CDATA[Earlier this month 25 girls graduated from the Mauldin Youth Cadet Program. On Friday, it was the boys turn. Proud parents and family members packed the city council room at City Hall on Friday to watch a ceremony that recognized all the boys by way of a plaque and video tribute. This was the eighth Cadet program thus far, and this year is the first that saw 100 percent completion from both the boys and girls. Trey Wilson was named outstanding cadet and Elijah Wilson was named most athletic. Darian Hope was given a special commendation for his efforts at helping a fellow Cadet who was in danger while the group was away on a field trip. The Cadet program is part of a larger effort at community outreach by Mauldin Police (see accompanying video).
